Clothing Essentials - T-Shirt Edition

I am sure we all know, sometimes all you need are the essentials. A couple of little t-shirts here and solid tank-tops there. They layer under our cardigans or blazers, or we wear them alone for a simple look. The only issue I have is that I don't want to spend over $10.00 on these items. Little t-shirts and tanks get abused because wear them so often and it seems silly to spend your money on a basic item when you could be using the money for other items. Last summer I was looking for some t-shirts and tanks. I went to Old Navy, my go to store, but I was growing sick of their choices and prices. I had been shopping at Old Navy regularly for many years because everything fit well for the price and they allowed me to use their pieces to show case my style by coupling the items with more fashion forward pieces from other stores. However, just when I thought I was an Old Navy fanatic for life, something changed. The clothing started to become awful. Things didn't seem to fit as nice, the colors and patterns were drab, and for goodness sake, who would wear half of the ugly things they were selling? This made me sad because I used to shop there on my lunch breaks and leave spending maybe $100.00 after one half an hour shopping stint. I would leave with two bags and a big smile. This last summer, nothing seemed to gel right. I suspect new buyers, but then again, even their online options were not that great. So, I decided to start looking elsewhere for my basics since I knew I wouldn't be purchasing anything else at Old Navy. I'm glad I did too.

I love Target dresses, they always have cute styles and who can resist some of their guest designers? They fit my curvy body nicely and they are really cheap. I was at Target on one particular day after being disappointed by Old Navy and found these wonderful little Mossimo T-shirts. They are very thin cotton t-shirts that they keep folded on a shelving unit. They come with a standard neck or v-neck and are available in every color you could imagine. For the fall they have burgundy or maroon and forest green. In the summer they have heather purples and bright orange. They run about $6 - 8 dollars a piece and I can't stop buying them. I think at this point I have a bunch of black and white shirts, two grey, and a few others in different colors. They wash nice and I can wear them under everything. As you can see in the picture below, the model wears hers a bit looser. I prefer my tiny tees tighter since I don't really wear them alone. I bought mine in a small, but my regular size in shirts is probably a large. Trust me, if you have a Target in your area go get 'em. If not, I am sorry, but they do sell the black and white one at target.com. I apologize now, I love target, but their website is kind of awful. See, if you find an item you like, but want a different color, you are going to have to keep flipping pages until you find it. They, unfortunately, do not allow you to pick the item and then choose from a drop down of the other colors they offer.

If you are interested, visit target.com and search for "juniors pocket tee." They should pop up with at least the black and white shirt and some of the other colors available.
