I didn't really have any good DIY ideas that came to mind today, but this article caught my eye. The whole article discusses jacket trends and it got me thinking about how important a jacket is to an outfit sometimes. I have had jackets in the past that I have centered my outfits around because I love them so much. One trend they discussed was the leather jacket. Personally, I don't have any real leather jackets. I would much rather by a Hydraulic pleather jacket so I can buy multiple rather than have that one expensive jacket. Recently; however, I found a jacket Kim Kardashian owns and I am insanely jealous. Picture below, the cut is nice for her figure and my favorite part is the neck detail. I love how it drapes down, but if she were to be cold, the jacket zippers up to her neck.
Some great places I have found jackets are Burlingon Coat Factory, Forever 21, Carson Pirie Scott, Nordstrom Rack and Lohmans. While Burlington Coat Factory has a lot of great things aside from coats (shoes, clothing, winter accessories), the website is fairly awful. They do not stock nearly the selection online as they do in the store. Forever 21 and Lohmans are fairly easy to find in most shopping centers or malls, but even though Forever 21 does have a website, I generally do not purchase jackets online. I find that a jacket's length and fit at the shoulders is very important and can turn an outfit from potentially great to drab because your coat is not made right. Carson Pirie Scott is a great store also, but they are only known as Carson's in the Chicagoland area. You may be able to find it named Bergner's or Boston Store in your area. Otherwise you can visit any of their websites with caveat I mentioned previously. As the outlet version of Nordstroms, Nordstrom Rack is a wonderful place if you can find one. They do have locations in 24 states, but they seem to be located in odd places. For instance, they avoid malls and obvious shopping centers since those places often have Nordstroms. It could be an Illinois thing, but it was just something I found in talking to people from other states.
Do you have a favorite place to find fun jackets, leave a comment and share with the group!
