Sometimes You Just Have To Do It Yourself

Today's blog entry is sponsored by the letter C...for creativity. As a shoe fanatic, I sometimes find it hard to locate the style of shoe I want. Although I rarely ever buy expensive shoes if I can help it, I often like to search those sites for inspiration. It gives me a checklist of sorts when I hit the stores over the weekend. Ya see, fashion isn't all about colors or maybe necklines, it is also about shirt length or fit sometimes. Think about it, boat neck shirts come in and out of style, but you will often find that if you still have a boat neck shirt from its last day in the spotlight, it doesn't look so fashion-forward when you try it on the next time, right? This is how they get us to spend the money people. You can't just re-hash old styles year after year, they have to change in order to keep fashion houses on their toes.

However, I digress, I think the styles right now are nice for all body types. You can opt for a looser off-the-shoulder shirt ala Khloe Kardashian paired with leggings or if you are on the petite side, a midriff showing shirt to boast that belly. I think my favorite part is the shoes. Shoes are now taking the spotlight of an outfit because bright colors and patterns are in. My favorite of the trends is the looser ankle booties. They make ankles look skinny and can be worn with skinny jeans, leggings or even a short skirt. So, what is the issue? It seems that some of the cheaper retailers have not been mimicking this style properly. See, when I think of my shoe g-ds, Jeffrey Campbell and Irregular Choice come to mind. They are innovative and certainly a great conversation piece. I know Jeffrey Campbell has been given crap for copying others, but it seems that the buck stopped there. No one else has mimicked the style and there are a lot of us thrifty shoppers who can't find what we want. So, falling in love with these babies

They are unique and diverse allowing you to pair them with different color pants or skirts. I had to have them, but didn't have the money to drop. So, I took it upon myself to make a pair on my own. Using a pair of Steve Madden wedges I broke last season, old skinny khakis I didn't find flattering once getting home and a couple of boy's belts from target, I give you young shoe-enstein.

They aren't exact, but considering most people are not familiar with this pair of shoes, no one will know the difference. It just goes to show ladies, with a bit of brainstorming you can make the perfect recipe of fashion using a couple nails, cup of glue and heaping tablespoon of heart and creativity.

If anyone has a pair of shoes they love and wants some help updating them, please take a photo of your inspired shoe, the shoe you have that could use updating and we can work it out!
