Breakthrough Concealer Technique

Hi Guys! I hope everyone is having a pleasant day. I have been feeling bad this week. My blogging has lost steam a bit. However, things have been a bit crazy. My father is in town from Florida and he is sick, so I have been visiting him. I am also looking for a daytime gig since Sense and Frugality is really my escape from real life. Although I wish I could do this full-time, unfortunately blogging is a love, not a paycheck. So, since I could use an escape from reality, today is going to be a bloggy day. I hope I can offer up some great things for you guys and it will start with my latest breakthrough.

Recently, I have been finding that I am struggling to mask my dark circles. This tends to happen to me more in the summer since I am allergic to frickin' everything outside. It is just awful too because I hate looking tired and these aren't just those under eye circles right at the inner corner of my eyes, I just get a baggy eye and then this awful dark shadow underneath. Not even my eye bright has been an honorable adversary to these babies. So, in my research I found probably the greatest tip ever! It isn't a new one, but it is certainly new to me.

Now, if you have fair skin with more pink in it, keep using the pink concealer or highlighter. For your skin tone, this should do the job. However, if you have skin that is more olive or yellow in tone, or you have pretty dark circles, this should work better. For me this actually works so much better than the pink since I am pretty fair in skin tone, but I do still have a yellowy or greenish tone to my skin. So, what is it you ask? ORANGE!

Black Radiance Light - $1.99 at Walgreens
Can you believe it? Yeah, me neither. So, most of the videos and blogs I read went to the same product, its a concealer by MAC. However, you guys know that I try to avoid MAC. I would rather opt for accessibility in my products by taking a quick trip to Walgreens or Ulta on a day when I really need something a little pricier or unique rather than MAC which works great, but is expensive. I suppose my niche is avoiding what everyone else is talking about so I can bring you affordability. One video suggested orange lipstick. However, what I would first do is go to the drugstore and pick out an orange concealer if you can find one. Black Radiance is a line for African American women, so if you are, this may or may not work. I have never actually applied make-up to skin much darker than my own, so I am not an expert in that area. However, if you are a lighter skin tone, this should work well. The color is called "light." I personally like their eye shadows, but I have never tried their concealers before, so if you want to stay on the safer side you can opt for the lipstick option. One color I thought would work and is pretty close to what I used (I will get to that after this paragraph) is this lipstick by Milani called Gina. Yes, it is very, very bright, but  trust me. You are going to use very little and once you put your regular concealer over it, there will be no red or orange to see. I did it today and you cannot see a thing.

Now, if you use the Manly make-up palette or have another palette with funky colors, you can go the route I did. It is slightly messier, so wear junk clothing when trying this the first time. On the first tray of the Manly make-up you will find the two colors with green arrows. They are very similar and I used the one on the far right with the down arrow yesterday morning. It worked really well, but it was pretty red, so I had a little trouble with using too much of it. Then, last night I tried the color with the pink arrow on the bottom tray. This is actually very comparable to the MAC concealer and I think the color worked slightly better.

To apply it, all I did was take a concealer brush (you can use your finger too) and put add some of the color. Then, I took my lotion and mixed it with the color and applied it to the darkened areas under my eye. Yes, it will look orange. However, after you have applied the orange, you will want to add your concealer after. If you still look a bit orange have no fear. Once you add your foundation you shouldn't have an issue.

I'm also going to provide the color I would suggest on the Coastal Scents Palette. Also, if you decide to go with a different orange on either palette or something you have at home remember no sparkles. You want something preferably matte, but definitely no shimmer.

$18.95 at Coast Scents, this one is the 88 Original Palette

So that is my new breakthrough concealer technique. I haven't done any videos mostly because I am not a make-up artist, but also because I don't have a good quality camera or lighting. However, I will try to get something recorded so I can show you guys how to do this and provide you with just how bad my under eye circles are so you can see how effective this tip is. Until then, happy camouflaging!
