I really like dressing up for events. I love how it feels to buy a new dress and do your hair and make-up. Sometimes it just feels really great to pamper yourself and get out on the town. However, I also know that when events are approaching, I hate shopping for dresses. Shopping for dresses can be one of the most upsetting and ego-bursting experiences in the world. Why, you ask? Well, simply put, because not all dresses are created equal. Dresses come in a variety of styles, colors, and quality. Some dresses will look like they will fit your body type perfectly...until you try them on. That is when you start to feel awful because something looks bad here or pinches there. The issue sometimes is yes, maybe we gained a pound. On the other hand, a lot of times it isn't you at all, it is the dressmaker. Dresses are a very difficult thing to make, all body types are different, so to make something fit a population of women's hips, but and chest is pretty hard. To that, I guess I can be sympathetic to the dressmakers. Still, this sympathy doesn't help us when we shop. So, today I am going to let you in one of my little dress shopping secrets that makes dress shopping feel a little less horrible. The secret...Department Stores.
My favorite is JC Penny. JC Penny is certainly not Nordstroms or Macys, but when it comes to an affordable dress, they seem to have an impeccable selection all year long. Selection is really the key. If you have more to choose from and the brands are diverse, you can definitely have an easier time finding something nice that fits well and you feel great. I take the frog and prince approach to dresses. You may have to try a lot on, but when you don the right dress, it makes you feel like a princess. If you don't believe me, check JC Penny out online, they have a really cute selection now.
Also, I wanted to mention, I am going to post a couple of dresses below. However, I do want to make mention that while most of my posts do really relate to online shopping in order to give you a greater level of accessibility no matter what city, state or country you live in, dresses can be difficult and you are generally left in a better state by trying them on. Also, shopping in a store can be a bit more expensive. There are things to consider with this, such as store mark ups. The dresses I am picturing below range from 50-60 dollars, but they are really cute.
