I think I can say with all confidence that most of us hate pantyhose. They are probably one of the world's worst inventions and the reasons are endless. Not only is finding the right color without removing them from the package a pain, but then look at the darn things. They will have this strong waist band and then the flimsiest material possible. The question is never will I get a run, it is when will I get a run. Then, once you get the run, they are useless and must be thrown away. My hatred for these things started many years ago and I pretty much only wear them to job interviews. However, within the past couple of years I have done some research and found a good alternative to the damn things.
My alternative? Sally Hansen Salon Airbrush Legs! I know it sounds a bit strange, but I swear by this stuff. It will run you around $10.00 per can from Walgreens (only place I have seen it) and will last for multiple uses.
This is the skinny on the airbrush pantyhose. Originally, I believe it was called airbrush pantyhose, but it has since been changed. Still, it works just as well as a pair of pantyhose. It is essentially a small spray can with what I would call foundation for your legs. It comes in four colors with a fifth shimmer option. What you will do is make sure your legs are shaved and exfoliated as if you are going to apply spray tan. You will want to make sure you are in a room where you can easily clean off surfaces or you don't care if they turn beige. I like to stand in the shower so I can just rinse off the whole bathtub. Then it is simple, you spray on your leg and then rub in. The color shows right away and it is a nice even color. It is water proof also. I mean, I wouldn't go swimming with it on, but you can safely be rained on without ruining your clothing. However, I will warn you, if you are going to do it, make sure you are completely dry before adding your clothing. If you spray it on and it is warm or humid where you are, the formula will not dry quickly and you will find that the inside of your clothing now have beige or tan in the inside. It does wash off, but it is probably easier to make sure you are dry first. The color really looks more natural than spray tans and has a thicker coverage as if you are wearing pantyhose. You don't have to worry about wearing open-toed shoes either because you will not have that tacky look that often shows when you wear pantyhose with open-toed shoes and the seem from the toe shows or you look like a duck with webbed feet. It is truly awesome stuff.
Plus, I am not going to lie, I pretty pale and generally don't tan too much in the summer, so this stuff is great if you want to have a tanned body as well. Yes, I apply it to my whole body when I am going to show my arms and back. I generally need a helper, so my sister is who I ask, but a friend, parent, and maybe even boyfriend or spouse will work just fine. The steps are so simple anyone can help out. The best part is that it will wash off easily with soap!
So, if the next time you have somewhere to go, you want a nice tan or a natural pantyhose look without runs and snags, just pick this stuff up. I think I have I used multiple colors for different looks and I have never had a problem with it!
