Oh yes, it is time for window shopping! So, Pink Ice is one of those websites that I have a love/hate relationship. I find that some seasons I find lots of cute things and other times...not so much. However, if I can say one thing for Pink Ice, it is that they really know how to identify a style and stick with it. If you decided that you are going to ditch your preppy or classic look for something trendy, this website will offer only those items. Plus, you aren't going to have to feel that if you buy a shirt you cannot complete the outfit. Their shirts go well with their bottoms, shoes, jewelry, etc. Today I picked out a collection of items that caught my eye. I will admit, there were a couple of items that I did give an extra thought to whether I would spend that much on that particular item, but for fashion tops it can be necessary.
1. Harem Pants - $24.99
Oh...this style of pants is a guilty pleasure. I think they are super cute, but really, they are just only meant for certain body styles. I think you really have to have thinner, long legs to pull them off or else you will look like MC Hammer. However, I pick items that are cute, not necessarily only what I could feel I look good in. They are, of course, super comfortable and completely fit the summer style. They look adorable with flat gladiator sandals, flip flops or even stilletos or wedges. However, be careful with your choice of top. You really want to ensure that everything else you wear with harem pants is simple. For instance, no flowy tops, stick to tank tops that hit right at the waste of the pants or tuck in. Opt for a simple cropped jacket. I think the rule of thumb here is remember than if you want to ensure you don't drown in your clothing you must offset pieces. If you choose a high volume bottom, opt for a form fitting top and vice versa. The goal is to highlight your figure and show off a cute piece, not completely sink under all of the fabric.
2. Blue Jumpsuit - $39.99
If I can say anything about the jumpsuit, it is this. There was absolutely no consideration for me when they created this look. Of course when I say me, I mean short with curves. This is absolutely a look for a leaner and taller figure. The reason, think about dress shopping! The nice thing about buying separates, whether it be a bikini or just pants and a shirt, is that it can accommodate your proportions. For instance, you may wear a size 5 pants, but you have a larger chest, so a large you must buy. These two sizes really don't translate into dresses and therefore we must hang around the dress section of a store for far longer than anticipated. I find my issue with jump suits and dresses is that if I want to buy one that accommodates my chest, it looks horrific on the bottom because it is too big. If I downgrade a size, I find that it may fit on the bottom, but my chest swallows up any detail on the top and then it drives the bottom part of the jumpsuit up higher. Essentially, it just looks really sloppy. So, I decided to give on the jumpsuit. However, this doesn't mean you should. In fact, if you have that figure, please wear this style, I love it too much for anyone to ignore. Not only is the color really pretty, but the ruffle top is such a romantic detail and the capri bottoms just scream wear me with heals and a cute pair of dangly earrings!
3. Back and White Flowy Shirt - $27.99
This shirt is super cute and can be worn with a variety of different pants or even a tight mini of the fabric variety. The fact that it is black and white makes it versatile, and the pattern is also contemporary and fashionable. You can pair it with a bandeau like the model or a black or white tank top. It is definitely a look for most body types as well.
4. Sexy, Yet Understated Work Shirt - $34.99
This shirt is super cute and I love how they paired it with a pencil skirt. It is a mature and sexy look, yet understated enough to wear to work. Everything that need be covered is, yet you can still be very fashionable. I will share this little fortune. If there is one thing that really makes me aggravated, it is the way we have to really calm our individuality in the office. Now, I'm not saying I want to go to work with cleavage showing and low slung pants, but I am saying that attempting to be a little left of center can be a huge deal in some offices. It will change how colleagues or C-levels see you or you will end up in a meeting getting a talking to about your clothing options. So, I think this look is completely appropriate for work, but it is really fun. You can even wear this shirt with a pair of regular jeans as long as you tuck it in the way the model has hers tucked into the pencil skirt.
5. Chiffon Kimono - $37.99
This is another shirt that goes well with many body types. Most things flowy are really because they can hide what you wish to hide, yet allow you to avoid the same boring options. I think this shirt is cute worn the way it is on the model or you can add a cute belt where the waste cinches to spice it up. Accessorize with caution, but I definitely think that the beige at the top deserves a necklace to break up the monotony.
6. Lace-Up Gladiators - $24.99
Gladiator sandals were a look I needed to warm up to. I first saw a pair on one of the Olsen twins maybe two summers ago and it was definitely not love at first sight. If you recall, she was wearing a pair of knee-high white sandals that kind of laced up her calves. They were just ridiculous. However, as I kept visiting my favorite lunchtime spot, DSW, I started to see the ankle-height pairs. It seems that in most cases I find that the more expensive sandals are cuter for gladiators, but my eyes were attracted to the pair from Pink Ice. I think part of what is happening is that non-designer brands are starting to get into the look, so they are choosing cuter options because people are willing to buy them. Maybe not, but that was my theory.
In any case, this pair of lace-ups is fun. I like that the suede straps aren't overbearing so that he lace kind of mixes in well. In fact, I didn't realize there was suede at first, I thought the straps were all laces. I like the color and think it would look really cute with the Chiffon Kimono pictured above.
7. Double Finger, Wing Ring - $19.99
I know I haven't placed too many accessories on my blog thus far. I generally don't because I find that accessories are far more personalized than other items we wear. For instance, I would much rather have my splurges go into a piece of jewelry, purse or pair of shoes than a shirt or pants. However, every now and then you find a novelty piece of costume jewelry that is just too cute to avoid. This ring to me is one of those items. I have an affinity for wings and hearts. Now this may seem to hinder my credibility a bit because I am sure you can picture me just running to all things hearts and wings and immediately loving them. However, this is not quite the truth.
See, there is that immediate drawing power where I run over to the item. Yet, what happens after that is what I can only attribute to my mother. When my sister and I were little and my mother would take us clothing shopping, she would let us pick out a bunch of stuff that was a combination of what we liked and she liked. The scenario would then go something like this:
Fists clutched with hangers, I would go into the dressing room to try something on. I would come out in the outfit and we would all touch the fabric, study how it fit, fawn over the details and just constantly utter "Cute...It's so cute." I think we would say it until the word just sounded funny and had no meaning. My mother would then get silent and pause. We would follow her lead and then she would narrow her eyes and purse her lips slightly and say, "but do you love it?" See, my mother's credo of shopping is that you must love something to buy it. Of course it seems easy enough for me to have said I loved everything I wanted, but my mother is a great judge of lying. If you said it too fast without the level of excitement she would know you didn't love it. So, you really actually had to determine if this was something you loved. She just wanted to make sure that what she bought us was worth it. She didn't want us wearing something once and then ditching it.
So, with all of that said, I hope I have restored my credibility for suggesting this ring or any future suggestions with wings and hearts!
